Earlier this semester we added an ongoing subscription to the
eCommerceDB research database, which provides data on online marketing and sales channels across the global economy. It is affiliated with, and in some cases, links to our Statista subscription. It includes data for thousands of stores in 50 countries (and counting):

eCommerce market overviews, including segments by country

a Marketplaces tool that provides rankings and individual profiles for sites like Taobao, Amazon, Rakuten, etc.

country, brand, trend, and company reports
We think this tool can be of great benefit to students and faculty in company, industry, and multi-channel marketing analysis projects of all kinds. The best way to navigate the database is by scrolling the home page to explore topics, or use the top menu bar.
Stores
Clicking the Stores menu link produces a list of online stores ranked by “filtered revenue.” You can use the filters at left to select countries, categories, currency, and sales ranges. They intend to build a mechanism to download the tables, but it isn’t working yet; however, copy/paste/reformatting into Excel works for now. Clicking an individual store name gets you to a “Revenue Analytics” page that shows net sales and growth trends, revenue by country and category, and a variety of marketing analytics like search engine and SEO spending and visibility, web traffic, etc.
Markets
The Markets menu link gives you a list of eCommerce Market reports for various countries; for the USA, UK, and Germany, there is a master report and also segment reports for Electronics & Media, Fashion, Food & Personal Care, Furniture & Appliances, and Toys/Hobby/DIY.
Drilling in, the master reports include analysis and lists of top online stores, market size and growth rates, shipping providers, and lists of competitors by categories.
Marketplaces
This menu item produces a filterable list of “marketplaces” (as distinct from “stores”) ranked by gross merchandise volume. Clicking in to a marketplace produces growth trends for GMV, a “regional scope” map, app availability, a list of milestones, and commission information for third-party sellers.
Reports
Finally, the Reports link subdivides as follows:

Country Reports: 60-100 page PDF reports for countries with summaries, trends, consumers, eCommerce market analysis, top stores.

Brand Reports: 20-40 page PDF reports for leading eCommerce brands, by country, e.g. “Amazon in Italy 2021”. Reports include content from Statista’s Global Consumer Survey that discuss demographics, consumer lifestyles, and marketing touchpoints.

Trend Reports: depending on the topic, each individual study design includes extensive market calculations, consumer surveys, and in-depth research data.

Company Reports: These are Excel file reports that cover company financials and operating segments and contain an in-depth analysis of eCommerce net sales for each company with information about all its online stores. Detailed consolidated information about shipping, payment, shop software, and many more KPIs are also included.
