New process for requesting materials from Macalester

Beginning June 3rd, 2014, Macalester College Library materials will no longer be findable or requestable through the CLICnet and should be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

In recent months, the CLIC library consortium conducted a process to select a new next generation integrated library system. As part of this process, schools in the consortium made a systematic comparison of the major vendors, and selected the Intota system from Proquest. Intota includes the Summon discovery search, which we’ve used at UST for the last several years, as well as other components to manage acquisitions, circulation, and the management of electronic resources. Components of the new system will be rolled out over the next 18 months.

During this process, Macalester selected a different vendor, OCLC’s WorldShare, which they are implementing immediately. It is not feasible to easily integrate these systems, and so Macalester’s content will no longer be findable and requestable through the CLICnet catalog, effective immediately.

However, UST and Macalester users can still borrow each other’s content via the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system. Journal articles and book chapters typically come via email within two business days; physical materials may take up to a week, though items from Macalester will come via courier and may arrive faster. If you wish to search for materials you think might be at Macalester, see their website, just remember to use UST’s ILL system to request them.
