Center’s Assistant Director travels to Turkey

Hans Gustafson, the Jay Phillips Center’s assistant director traveled to Turkey in June with the Niagara Foundation of Minnesota, a foundation which promotes global fellowship, intercultural exchange, as well as peace and bridge-building between Turkey and Minnesota.

‘Muslim-Christian Dialogue: Challenges and Possibilities’ program here Feb. 14.

A lecture on “Muslim-Christian Dialogue: Challenges and Possibilities” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the auditorium of the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.

The speaker will be Dr. Amir Hussain, editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion and a professor of theological studies at Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit university in Los Angeles, where he teaches courses on world religions.

Father Erich Rutten, director of Campus Ministry, Terry Nichols, co-director of UST’s Muslim-Christian Dialogue Center, and Hans Gustafson, assistant director of the Jay Phillips Center for Interfaith Learning, discussed the significance of interreligious dialogue for Catholics and the anniversary of the World Day of Prayer in Assisi. Their talk highlighted the necessity for Catholics to engage in dialogue with people of other faiths.
