Play games made by students in one week! Our department teamed up with the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship, a top-10 entrepreneurship school in the country, to host a game jam for students on campus. A game jam is an event where students create a video game in a short period of time based on a theme. This semester’s jam theme was “The Minimum,” and students had one week to create their games. Ten games were submitted, and $1,450 worth of prizes were distributed to students. The results:
- Jury Award Prize ($1,000 cash prize): Doctor’s Misorders by Elijah Parkos and Kitty Marsh, playable in a web browser.
- Audience Choice Award ($100 gift cards): Talay by Esoteric Studios (Henry Lee, Sofy Compagnoni, and Owen Hawkinson), playable on Windows computers.
- Game Design Excellence Award ($50 gift cards): Snail Mail by DEN (Devin Ngyyen, Emma McCoole, and Nate Murphy), playable in a web browser.
