Tommies on the London Business Semester have been in London, England for just over three weeks now. Time is flying by and our group of 40 St. Thomas students have already done and experienced a lot- not to mention, our classes have been incredible! Ready to spread our wings and adventure, Brighton Beach came highly recommended, and is the perfect escape out of the busy city and a way to see more of England. The rain didn’t stop us for having an incredible day along the seaside town of Brighton Beach. About an hour and a half train ride away from London, Brighton Beach is quite picturesque. The pier is a popular place to meander along the water, pop into a couple of shops, grab a bite to eat or spend some time catching up with friends in a pub.
Brunch Hard or Go Home
We all love a good brunch and the Breakfast Club didn’t disappoint! As a group of very hungry food lovers, this was the perfect place to enjoy a delicious brunch from a quite extensive menu of tasty breakfast selections. I ordered the huevos rancheros-fried eggs, tortilla, refined beans, chorizo, salsa, cheddar, sour cream and guacamole. Needless to say, it was amazing!
The Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion is a beautiful palace in Brighton Beach and is the former royal residence and seaside escape of King George IV. This impressive palace is tucked into the town and surrounded by beautiful gardens right next to the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
Brighton Pier
The weather was very unpredictable in Brighton- the day varied between sunny skies and a downpour of rain. However, there is a lot to do rain or shine, and we made the most of the day. On the pier, there is a huge arcade with lots of rides, and as our group of 7 reminisced on our childhood, we decided to ride the bumper cars. The fish and chips were all too tempting, and of course we gave in. Countless shops line the waterfront and we stopped into a couple to escape the rain and grab an ice cream cone. It was incredible day and Brighton Beach was a great escape of out London for the day.
