Last month, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal held its fourth annual awards ceremony to recognize the 22 companies who scored the highest on its 2013 Healthiest Employers assessment. These employers share a commitment to improving the overall well-being of their employees including physical, mental, social, and financial health. They believe that a healthy workplace will not only create a happier, healthier workforce, but has the potential to enhance recruitment and retention, increase teamwork and collaboration, reduce absences, and curb spiraling health care costs.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal on Friday announced winners of its annual Women in Business Awards. This year a number of the honorees are Opus College of Business and University of St. Thomas alumnae.
The Journal says that each year it recognizes 50 women for their professional achievements, leadership qualities, and contributions to the broader Twin Cities community. The Opus College of Business is proud to observe that two members of the list – selected from hundreds of nominees – are OCB alumnae.

The Business Journal also honors one female executive with a Career Achievement Award. This year’s award goes to Margaret Perryman ’78 M.B.A., president and CEO of Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare.

University of St. Thomas student, BreAnna Fisher, is one of six regional finalists who will compete in the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards competition tomorrow in Chicago. Fisher, en route to the competition today, is the only student from Minnesota nominated for the 2012 competition. A Twin Cities native, she is on track to graduate from the University of St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship in spring 2013.
In addition to her college courses, Fisher is a social media expert who is revolutionizing gift-giving over smart devices with her new Web-based application, DoDrinks.com. DoDrinks is currently incubated at the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Thomas. The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship Lab provides a place for student and alumni entrepreneurs to build community as well as build businesses. Professors Alec Johnson and Jay Ebben have been providing guidance to the company.
