We are running a trial of Sage Research Methods Online Datasets. This is an additional add-on to our existing subscription.
This component provides test/exercise datasets to support the teaching of quantitative and qualitative research. Per Sage, “choose from over 500 datasets using data from real research, designed to support the teaching and independent learning of data analysis techniques.”
To access this trial, go to Sage Research Methods Online and then scroll down to hit the Datasets icon.
The database allows you to search by keyword, or browse by:
Method (e.g. multiple regression, T-test, logistic regression, cross-tabs)
Discipline (e.g. Economics, Education, Social Work)
Data Type (e.g. Ethnographic interviews, numeric data, time series, interview transcripts; both quantitative and qualitative)
The quantitative datasets are taken from large-scale surveys, experiments, or government data of various kinds. The qualitative datasets are taken from sources like interview transcripts and field study notes. Studies are accompanied by step-by-step instructions for quantitative statistical analysis or advice on how to approach analysis of a qualitative dataset, as well as teaching and student guides, and guides to performing the techniques in specific statistical software packages.
This trial runs through Oct. 31. Please take the database for a spin and send me any questions or your recommendation on whether we should subscribe by then.
