Spotlight on Accounting Club!

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Although fall semester is in full swing, it is not too late to join a student organization! This week the Opus College of Business would like to highlight the Accounting Club and recognize their hard work and dedication to their members.

The mission of the University of St. Thomas Accounting Club is “to acquaint students with career opportunities, to enlighten students on accounting, and to strengthen the relationship between other accounting students and faculty.” Our club is connected to more than 20 firms and companies including international, national, regional, and local public accounting firms and public companies of various sizes. Those firms and companies partner with our club to put on weekly presentations, social events, service events a career fair, and a Spring banquet, all of which allow students to build their network and learn more about the vast amount of opportunities available to accounting majors. We welcome any and all students with an interest in accounting!

Announcing a new student organization, the Undergraduate Business Council

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Calling all business majors!  The Opus College of Business Undergraduate Program would like to announce a new leadership opportunity and student organization for all business majors, the Undergraduate Business Council.  A great chance to serve as a voice for all business students and as a face of the Opus College of Business.

The Undergraduate Business Council will connect students, faculty, and administrators while building relationships, leaders, and opportunities.  The purpose of the Undergraduate Business Council is to create an avenue for students to express insight, ideas, and concerns to the administration of the Opus College of Business, while providing the administration a committee of students to consult.  Members of the Undergraduate Business Council will provide a voice for all business students, serve as a face of the Opus College of Business, and act as liaisons between administration and students.  The Undergraduate Business Council is dedicated to the continued improvement of the Opus College of Business.

Eligible members must be declared, or officially intended business majors with a minimum UST GPA of 2.75.  Students must be in good standing with the University of St. Thomas and the Opus College of Business.  Eligible members must be enrolled full-time and have at least two semesters of classes remaining.  Seniors graduating in December 2011 are eligible.

Fortunately, Wednesday gives you a day off, since the  Financial Management Association has Stalla over convo hour on Thursday the 25thStudents In Free Enterprise will be continuing to ramp up for competition in MCH 339 from 11:45-1:00.  Finally, the Real Estate Society has its’ first meeting of 2nd semester in MCH 116 during convocation hour, and they’e got the Senior VP of Brokerage Services from Northmarq coming in.
