Thank you, Amazon …

I got a Kindle for my birthday from my lovely parents :) I was waffling between wanting one and not wanting one for a few months, and I finally decided that I HAD TO HAVE ONE, whether or not I got one for my birthday.

I am so glad that I have one now. Seriously, it is going to make my life so much easier, I can already tell. First of all, you can get SO many books for free on Amazon.com or on other websites that have free e-book downloads. I’m working on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein right now, and I’m amazed at how profound a story it really is. Every day, I look forward to reading a little more :]

Also, we’re reading excerpts from St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica in my PHIL 214 class and I was able to download the ENTIRE THING for $.99. Boom. (Note: the hard copy of the Summa runs at around $100. So guess who feels pretty awesome–THIS GUY).

I can use it to read and annotate .pdf files for my other classes too. Basically, I’m saving tons of paper, a fair amount of money, and I’ve been traveling a lot lighter these days. I can carry a lifetime’s worth of reading in a tablet that weighs a pound.

For anyone considering purchasing a Kindle, just do it. Seriously.
