Wait it snowed last night?

The roomates shoveling out our cars!

The roommates shoveling out our cars!

If you didn’t know this, the twin cities area had a little snow this weekend. Well actually we had a lot of snow. You know there is a lot of snow when the  Mall of America Field Dome Collapses. The videos of this happening were surreal. There was so much snow on Friday evening into Saturday. I have never seen so much snow in my life. I guess 17 inches of snow can do some damage to a dome, for all of you that have a dome in your backyard, beware!

Where did the car go?

Where did the car go?

Saturday I woke up to a winter wonderland. I couldn’t see anything outside of my window but snow and more snow. It was sunny so I thought it was going to be a warm day. I was wrong. The roommates and I decided that we should try and shovel out our walk ways and our cars. After about three hours of shoveling we decided that the roads were not even plowed and we couldn’t really do much once we unburied our cars. We then decided to go inside and make a smorgasbord of food and random things we found in our fridge and freezer. It was a lot of fun. We even made some cookies. Then at night we wanted to go out, so we bundled up and went on an adventure.

St. Paul Adventures

St. Paul Adventures

I felt like I was in I am legend or the day after tomorrow when we were walking around on saturday night. We walked right down the middle of Marshall Ave. We didn’t see many cars, probably because most of them were buried in snow like the one in the picture above. It was fun we walked all the way to O’garas for a Ruben and had a few adventures walking through the empty streets of St. Paul. You know it’s finals week when you decided that shoveling out all of our walkways would be more fun than studying for a finance exam. This was the largest snow storm since 1991. I definitely made the most of it.

Prepare Ye the way

My girlfriend and I at Orchestra Hall for the Concert

My girlfriend and I at Orchestra Hall for the Concert

Prepare ye the way. As we enter this advent season we are preparing for the coming of Jesus Christ our lord and savior. This is sometimes forgotten in the holiday season. St. Thomas does a good job of reminding all of us what Christmas is all about.

UST MUSIC DEPARTMENT @ Orchestra Hall

UST MUSIC DEPARTMENT @ Orchestra Hall

This evening I was fortunate enough to go the UST, Christmas Concert at Orchestra Hall simply named “All my Heart this night rejoice.” It was a great concert the orchestra was there as were the choirs even the hand bell choir. It was a lot of fun they had more traditional pieces, pieces in different languages and a few sing-alongs to get the audience up off their feet. It was a lovely break from being in the library all day today studying for finals.

This concert is a tradition at  St. Thomas, and one of my favorite events every year. It was a great concert and Orchestra hall is a wonderful venue to watch a concert . This performance will also be aired nation wide. More information can be found on the  St. Thomas Choirs website. The choir will be on television but the St. Thomas chamber singers have another special honor this holiday season. They were selected as one of five premiere choirs to preform at the American Choral Directors Association national convention. This is a huge honor for St. Thomas choral program, the music department and the College of Arts and sciences.

Catching the last few minutes of Holidazzle

Catching the last few minutes of Holidazzle

This next week is going to be a hectic one, I have three exams two papers and a presentation. It will be a lot of studying and hard work. I also have an internship interview and two other important meetings between now and Christmas break. I will be stressed to the max but tonight was a great night to relax and get excited about winter break. This made me think about a few things and this is what I came up with as I am procrastinating in the library.

I thought about all  the stress of finals coming up, last minute shopping, snow emergencies and the craziness that is the holidays is upon us. Sometimes we need reminders like tonight’s Christmas concert to remember the reason for the season is Christ. So make sure you prepare a fabulous tree this year, get all of your Christmas shopping done, dinners and parties planned, but also prepare for the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ. Just some food for thought.Happy Holidays everyone!

Harry Potter Turkey… FINALS

Hey Everyone,

I hope that everyone had a happy and fabulous Thanksgiving with their families. I know I did. It doesn’t get too much better then being able to go home eat turkey, homemade pies, green bean casserole and be around family and friends. It was great. I missed being home. It was a nice break from studying and school stuff. I did take a break a few weeks ago from studying and looking for internships to go see Harry Potter. If you didn’t get a change to see the new Harry Potter movie you should.

Waiting In line for Harry Potter!!!

Waiting In line for Harry Potter!!!

Harry Potter 7 Deathly Hallows! Was by far the best Harry potter I have seen yet. It was great we waited in line for the midnight showing of course. It was fun we were actually able to stay inside the theater and wait for the movie. I have read all the books. I actually skimmed over the last book once more before we went to the movie just as a refresher. I was a little sad that I was not able to dress up for the premiere, but I did have a wand.

Panda Potter :)

Panda Potter :)

It was a great night to relax with friends be a dork and have a good time. Between Harry Potter and Thanksgiving I had a few breaks these past two weeks which was great but now I have to get back to the daily grind. This week I have started to study for all my finals that are in just a week. I had my last night class yesterday. That is Crazy. I can almost taste christmas break but I have a few obstacles in the way. I have three big projects due, a few tests a final exam to get through until I am done for Christmas Break. I also have two internship interviews before break as well.  I turned in a 19 page Business Ethics paper yesterday Phew glad that is over. I have just a little over a week of class left, finals and then home for more food, family and friends. Christmas Break can not come soon Enough!!! Back to studying…

So excited for the movie!!!
