Image Manipulation

This section covers image modification for images not being used as the header image or in a slideshow.
Image manipulation can be done at any time, at upload if you are using the flash uploader. Or by selecting the image from the Media library that can be found in the media dropdown then selecting Library. You can also access this when you are selecting an image to insert into a post.

You have tree primary options Crop, Resize, and Rotate.
Cropping

Once you have selected the crop button the first thing you will notice is there is a dropdown box. It will probably have “full chain” selected here. You will notice that the other 4 option are same ones you get when inserting an item into a post. Whatever is selected will be modified by your edits.

•    Full chain = Master image file
•    Full = Is the largest sized image
•    Large and Medium are normally a scaled down           version of the Full image
•    Thumbnails are cropped or reduced images of the         full version.

Select the size you want to change select the crop area you want to select, hit the crop button.

Resizing

If all you want to do is resize the Full chain image. Select the Resize button and enter the width you want (preferably below) 200px. Then click the resize button.

Rotating

If the image got put in facing the wrong direction click the rotate button then select what you want to “rotate by” click the Rotate button.

Adding a Header image

This is the best way to add an image to the header of an article. For the best results an image should have a 3/2 ratio. Ideally any images you are getting for the header will come in this aspect to start off with. If they are not in this aspect ratio you need to modify them with the internal editor or another photo editing software.

Once you have the image uploaded got to the article you want to put the image in. If you scroll down the page you will see a bar names ‘Select an Image for Field “Header-Image”’. Click on the framed photo icon right below that heading.

Click on the Media Library you should see a list of 10 images on the page. Either look through the media by hitting navigation button in the upper right corner or fill out the box above the Search Media button to do a title search the hit the Search Media button.

Once you see the item you want to add select the show button. Make sure the Caption field is filled out. The hit the Insert into Post button and save the article.

Header image requirements

•    3/2 aspect ratio
•    510 by 340 minimal size.

Setting up a Slideshow for the Header
Adding a slide show happens in a slightly different way than other media.
