*Beta Gamma Sigma – Honor Society

The University of St. Thomas chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma congratulates the students who have earned invitations in 2013. Only the best business students in the world, and the professionals who earned the distinction of “the best in business” during their academic careers, can claim membership in Beta Gamma Sigma. This year’s Beta Gamma Sigma inductees from the Opus College of Business have earned that title.

These graduates join an expanding worldwide network of more than 625,000 outstanding business professionals who have earned recognition through lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma. Students ranking in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by AACSB International are eligible for this invitation.

Registration is now open for some new graduate business students. Register today to save a place in a fall semester course. Early registration helps department chairs and instructors with course planning, scheduling classroom space and book orders. BETH 525 Communication Ethics – Fall semester

The fall 2013 course section of BETH 525-501 Communication Ethics is cross-listed with a BETH 601 Business Ethics section: instructor Dr. Daryl Koehn. MBC program students will be able to fulfill a core course requirement with this section and Dr. Koehn will be able to address business and communication ethics topics throughout the semester within this Thursday evening course.

James S. Fish Scholarship – UST MBC degree students

Applications are now available for the James S. Fish Scholarship. This award goes to a qualified UST MBC degree student and provides tuition for four graduate business courses. Application deadline is August 1, 2013. Contact Leslie Krona for a scholarship application form.

Transfer to UST MBC Degree

Business communication certificate students planning to apply for the UST MBC degree will need to submit an application to transfer to the degree program. Apply to continue your professional development with a Master of Business Communication degree.

Schedule a graduate exam directly with the testing company GMAT or GRE.
Complete the online Apply to Transfer form.

The next application deadlines are:

August 5, 2013, fall semester.
January 2, 2014, spring semester.

In the early days of diversity, the work focused on race and gender. Then it broadened and became more complex: laws change, attitudes are continually evolving and the newest generation in the workforce does not want to be put in a box of one race, ethnicity or group.

About the Speaker
Mary-Frances Winters is president and founder of The Winters Group, a 27-year-old organization development and diversity consulting firm specializing in research, strategic planning, training and public speaking with an emphasis in ethnic and multicultural issues. Prior to founding The Winters Group in 1984, Winters was affirmative action officer and senior market analyst at Eastman Kodak Company, where she worked for 11 years.
