Help with your Bibliography

refworks_yellowIt is 3 a.m., your paper is finally finished, now for the dreaded Works Cited … Maybe you could use a little help?
Click here for How to Do a Bibliography. This is a link to our own guide to creating a bibliography — based on the MLA citation style — with some special tips on citing sources in theology.
There are several other widely used citation styles, Chicago, APA, SBL, Turabian. Turabian is commonly used in undergraduate papers. Here is a nice guide. Always be sure to check for your instructor’s preference!
In addition to guides for constructing citations one by one by hand, you can now chose from web based software that, to a welcome extent, automates the process in putting together an impressive bibliography.
At St Thomas we recommend students try RefWorks, bibliography software that is great if you have more than a handful or two of citations — a learning curve makes it less useful for short papers. You will need to create your own RefWorks account.
