Last week UST Law students gathered around the grill in downtown Minneapolis to celebrate Professor Rob Vischer’s “Tortapalooza.”  Because of a scheduling conflict Prof. Vischer had to reschedule a Torts class and the added session resulted in a double-length class on Friday morning—a marathon Prof. Vischer dubbed “Tortapalooza.”  1L’s then did what 1L’s do—ran with it—resulting in an 8:00 a.m. bratwurst breakfast, dueling NFL cheerleading, and some great T-Shirts!

North Carolina and Georgia

Last Monday I flew from Champaign, IL to Raleigh, NC. Tuesday I visited North Carolina State – Raleigh for a law fair.  The students were so great and went around to many different schools to learn about their programs.  I talked to a few students who were particularly interested in coming to a climate with four definitive seasons.

All across the Midwest

I was sad to be missing the beautiful fall weather in Minnesota, but last week it felt like I was back home while visiting many amazing campuses across the Midwest.  I visited Notre Dame, the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Indiana University, Chicago for the LSAC Forum, and the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana. 

I had one of our recent graduates, Candice, join me at the Chicago Forum on Saturday.  The prospective students enjoyed hearing about her experiences at UST Law.  They especially liked hearing about her mentors and the fact that she came to Minnesota to attend UST from Utah (more…)

It’s almost Registration time!

Registration is right around the corner, and for me, it is always a stressful time– the stress of hoping I get into my first choice classes, the stress of worrying about having to take a class that is on Friday, and the stress of waking up early to hope I can type course numbers faster than the rest of the school so that I do not have to deal with the stress of wait lists.

This semester registration went smoothly for me.  I was stressed up until after registration was complete, but I got all the classes I wanted and I didn’t have to worry about wait lists.  It was a great feeling.  I am hoping Spring semester’s registration goes just as smoothly.

I took all the required courses this semester, so next semester I will be taking all electives.  I am looking forward to having classes that are in the areas of law in which I am most interested.  I think that I want to practice Corporate Law, so I am planning on taking business-related courses this spring.
