And then I saw the Dalai Lama!!

Published on: Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

The past few weeks have been more than eventful with traveling galore, but also catching a cold, seeing my first bed bug, having my luggage lost and breaking my cell phone/GPS.  These small obstacles caused some anxiety but I’ve found that things always seem to work out if you remain calm and have fun.

I have traveled across our beautiful country and met the most amazing people!!  (more…)

Painting of Ute Indians at Olpin Center

Painting of Ute Indians at Olpin Union

I just returned from a trip to the University of Utah, Utah Valley University, and Brigham Young University. The weather was perfect and very similar to what we have been enjoying in Minnesota over the past several weeks.  At the first event at the University of Utah, I was in the ballroom at the A. Ray Olpin Union, the university community center.  On the wall next to me was a painting of the Ute Indians.  The student center was bustling with prospective law students. I talked to several students who are interested in visiting Minnesota and learning more about UST Law. Also invited were students from Utah State, Southern Utah University, Westminster College, Weber State University, and Salt Lake Community College.  As a special treat, there were vendors in Olpin Union selling hand-made jewelry. University of Michigan Stadium

University of Michigan Stadium

I recently returned from a trip to Michigan where I met with prospective law students at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.  While at the University of Michigan, I visited the stadium and ate at two local favorites, Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger and Angelo’s.

The event at Michigan State University was held in the Spartan Club level of the Spartan Stadium. What a treat– sitting in the beautiful stadium before meeting the students.  (more…)

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

Published on: Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I am so busy with school, studying and homework seems to be literally all I do!  I have a midterm on the Monday after fall break is over, I have my Lawyering Skills III brief draft due that Wednesday, and I have to study for the MPRE in my “spare time”!  It will sure be nice to get a break from homework!  However, I don’t see a “real” break in my future until Christmas break.  Oh well, I suppose, sometimes I do my best work under pressure.

I am looking forward to being finished with LSIII for the semester.  It will be a nice reduction in my work load!

Mid-term and the work (along with the fall colors!) is at a peak

AHHHH!  I am so overwhelmed by school work right now!!  I feel like everything hit me at once.  I feel like I have enough work and studying to do for six people.  It is stressful for me. Luckily I like to think I am good at handling stress.  In fact, most often I feel like I do my best work under stress.  It’s just the amount of work that I have right now that seems impossible to complete at the level I want it to be completed. Rain, Rain has finally gone away!

Published on: Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

During the past week I felt like the rain was following me whereever I went!  I started last Monday in the gorgeous state of Virginia at Virginia Tech.  The leaves were starting to change, so it made the drive to James Madison  for the Tuesday event absolutely beautiful!  My next stop was to the University of Virginia on Wednesday afternoon.   Although many of my pictures were taken in the rain, each campus was great to experience.

WOW!  This semester is flying by!  I met with my mentor from last year for lunch this week.  It was really great seeing her and catching up.  I am so glad to have had the experience with the Mentor Externship program that I have, because I have not only gained legal experience, I have gained a new friend.
