- Ursinus College
Last Friday I visited Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. I am so glad that I had my camera along with me! The campus was just breathtaking. I couldn’t believe how many amazing sculptures they had throughout their campus. It was like walking through a sculpture garden. I first drove by a sculpture of a woman on a bench, and literally thought she was alive (see picture below)! I also to stopped at their amazing art museum that is in the middle of campus.
I was able to speak to a few of the Ursinus students during their lunch hour. They were very courious to hear why the University of St. Thomas School of Law was recruiting at their school. Ursinus has a very close community and the students I spoke with expressed interest in attending a law school with a similar feel. UST would be a great place for students looking for a close community atmosphere as our quality of life ranking has remained in the top 5 for the past 5 years, according to Princeton Review.
Many of the people who stopped at my table had never been to Minnesota before, so I told them about the weather and the location of our law school right in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. The students were excited to hear about the skyway system and how you can literally walk over 8 miles downtown without ever stepping foot outside during the winter. Below is another picture I took while walking through the Ursinus campus.
The remainder of the week was spent at the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) Newcomers workshop. LSAC brought together a fantastic group of faculty members (seasoned admissions professionals from different law schools across the country) who led the sessions we attended. We were able to ask our faculty members questions and hear how a variety of schools approach the different aspects of the admissions process. One of my favorite sessions was when Karen, the prelaw advisor at Villanova, talked to us about her suggestions on how admissions recruiters can build relationships with prelaw advisors.
Below is a picture of one of our faculty members, Iain, talking to us about Financial Aid. The other picture is of some new friends at a Newcomers dinner in Philadelphia.

On Wednesday we took a bus to the LSAC building in Newtown, PA. I was very interested to learn about the different jobs and responsibilities that LSAC takes care of for law school applicants and law schools. During the tour we were introduced to “Flash” who is the robot that drives around the LSAC building and delivers mail! In the lunch room, they have a picture of every law school – I took a picture next to the UST Law Building photo!

I flew home on Wednesday evening and was able to do a few loads of laundry and quickly pack for the next day’s trip to DePauw University in Indiana.
