When Eleana Johnson indicated that Ann Simonds expressed an interested in speaking with a small group of women prior to her marketing presentation, we knew it was an offer that NAWMBA could not refuse. Ann offered great perspective on how to make career choices, negotiation strategies and life-work balance. Ann reminded the group to “stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”.
The first University of St. Thomas MBA Speed Networking event was held on Tuesday, March 25th. The event received a very positive response from participating students and alumni.
On March 11th and 12th, six second-years from the full-time MBA program completed the Mayo Scholars Program. The program is a partnership between Mayo Medical Ventures, Medtronic Foundation, and the Minnesota Private Colleges Counsel, developed by John Meslow, retired divisional president at Medtronic. The Mayo Scholars Program combines undergraduate science and business students with MBA student project leaders to research feasibility and market potential of medical inventions.
On March 28 – 30th, St. Thomas continued its winning tradition at the Simon Marketing Association’s annual case competition in Rochester, NY. UST MBAs Amelia Anderson, Courtney Clark, Chris Cook, Mike McKeon, and Erik Tietz represented St. Thomas on five separate teams, competing with MBAs from such notable schools as University of Chicago, Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, and Purdue.
During the last week of March, the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) conducted a clothing drive for Ready for Success. Ready for Success is an organization that accepts new and gently used business casual and business professional clothing for low-income women in the Twin Cities.
April in admissions means another significantly sized pool of applications to be reviewed for the April 15th application deadline. April also brings another flurry of students visiting the St. Thomas campus. As always, we appreciate your help with interviewing, hosting and dining with our visitors! The class of 2010 is shaping up to be an impressive group of students and it wouldn’t be possible without your help.
