April is one of the peak months for students seeking employment; whether it is a summer job, internship or a full-time professional position upon graduation. Whatever the reason, the Career Development Center offers resources to assist with your search.
Website Postings: Over 1,200 positions listed on TommieCareers. A wide array of summer, internship, and full-time positions are posted.
Seminars: Throughout the month of April there will be seminars and special events designed to meet the current market trends of job seekers.
Appointments and Pop-ins: Schedule a time to meet with one of the Career Counselors to personalize your internship or job search, get feedback on resumes and cover letters, or practice interviewing skills. You can make your appointment or get pop-in hours by calling (651) 962-6761 during our office hours.
Pathways to Social Science Careers
First-year through seniors are invited to attend the Pathways to Social Science Careers event with 4 panel sessions offering insights from alumni into college majors, career paths and organizations who hire on Tuesday, April 9 from 3:00-5:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Tuesday April 3, 2013. Register in person at the Career Development Center, Room 123 Murray-Herrick Campus Center. There is a $10.00 fee to attend.
Science Careers Expo
Numerous employers who hire science related majors will be presenting company and career information at noon in Owen Science Hall (OWS) 150 on Thursday, April 4. Following the presentation they will staff tables in the lobby for direct questions or employment inquires.
Job Search Group
Beginning April 8, the Job Search Group will meet on Mondays from 10:00-1:00 a.m. in Murray-Herrick Campus Center Room 124. Attend weekly to gain ideas and support for your internship or job search. Employment Agencies Fair
Talk with representatives regarding contract and short-term employment for students seeking summer work at the Employment Agencies Fair on Thursday, April 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Anderson Student Center. Many even have full-time jobs for graduating seniors. Bring your resumes and questions for the representatives of these employment agencies.
