What’s With This #HireTommies Thing???

As social media continues to grow, so do social recruiting strategies by companies, organizations and staffing agencies. In an effort to stay on top of the trend and provide the best possible service to St. Thomas students, the Career Development Center has developed social recruiting resources that will assist students in getting connected with alumni, recruiters, companies, and job and internship openings. #HireTommies is a social recruiting strategy used to encourage employers to engage with St. Thomas students through social networking and social media sites.

Here are the following ways that we are using #HireTommies to connect students and employers:

Twitter:

  • @HireTommies: Follow us to get daily updates on the new jobs and internships that are posted to TommieCareers
  • #HireTommies: Search the hashtag to find all recently posted jobs and internships; postings will link you directly to TommieCareers. Employers can also post jobs and internships and include the hashtag to market specifically to UST students.

LinkedIn:

  • #HireTommies group: Students can connect with employers to learn more about companies and positions, and employers are able to post opportunities (on the discussion wall or in job discussions) and network with students to find strong candidates for job and internship opportunities.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask a Career Development Center staff member at the job fair table. You will have a #HireTommies ribbon on the bottom of your nametag at the fair tomorrow. If you would prefer to remove it, feel free! If not, thank you for helping us to spread to word and connect more employers with UST students at #HireTommies!
