“CareerLink” is a publication of the Graduate Business Career Services office in the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota.

Managed by director Linda Sloan, together with her career coaches, Career Link is intended to connect the talent of our MBA and other graduate business education programs with local and national employers.

Meet the coaches:

Linda Sloan is a native of Chicago.  She received her BS in Marketing from the University of LindaIllinois and her MBA in Marketing and Strategic Management from Purdue University.  Linda has worked for many premier Fortune 500 companies including IBM, 3M and Target Corporation to name a few.  Her work history runs the gamut.  She produced award winning radio and television commercials, managed a racing program, developed ethnic events marketing strategies and recruited “Best in Class” talent at various levels.

Linda is also active in the community.  She sits on the boards of the Stairstep Foundation, Jazz Unites in Chicago and the Board of Christian Education at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.  She is a past President of the Twin Cities chapter of the National Black MBA Association.  She is an accomplished jazz vocalist and a Trekkie.

Linda currently serves as the director of industry relations and career management at the University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business.

Tom Colosimo is a career coach and corporate relations specialist with the TomUniversity of St. Thomas Graduate Business Career Services team.  Prior to joining UST in early 2009, he was a 3rd party recruiter in the finance, accounting and marketing business areas for 6 years.  He also worked in corporate finance for over 20 years and held senior level positions with companies in the manufacturing, retail telecommunications and banking industries.  Tom has been the volunteer coordinator for the Career Transition Connection job club in Woodbury, MN. since 2002. Tom prides himself as being the ‘master networker’ and loves connecting people with people to create a successful business solution and has made many presentations around the metro area at networking groups and organizations. Tom resides in Oakdale, MN. and is married with two lovely daughters.  When he’s not busy networking, Tom enjoys sailing on the St. Croix River as well as playing drums with various musical groups around the Twin Cities area.

Maggie Tomas recently joined the Graduate Business Career Services office in the summer of 2011.  MagBorn and raised in Southern California, Maggie moved to the Twin Cities in 2010.  Her background includes teaching and career counseling at  the college level, namely at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and  Brooks Institute, a well-known film, photography, and design school where she served as Director of Career & Student Services.  There she oversaw employment rates, employer relations and all commencement and orientation activities.  Her experience networking with advertising agencies and large media firms led to a passion for working with marketing and communications students. Maggie holds a BA in Liberal Studies and a MA in Psychology with an emphasis in Career Counseling and Professional Development.  She currently resides in St. Anthony with her husband and spends her free time playing with her two young daughters, baking, reading, and squeezing in a yoga class here and there.

LaBarre Spence has 20+ years in the corporate world in the areas of quality, consulting, marketing services, LaBarreand training and development with companies including Ingersoll Rand, Accenture, Carlson Marketing Group. In addition, almost 10 years in the world of MBA programs, primarily at The Carlson School of Management as a career coach and leadership development coach for MBAs and now as a career coach at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas for full-time, evening, and executive MBAs.

He has an MBA and Masters in Human Resource Development.

His passion is helping individuals identify and promote their unique abilities so they will feel empowered and engaged in their careers and life as a whole.

Jeff Kaczrowski has been a member of the St. Thomas community for over three years. JeffIn his role as the assistant director of alumni relations he dedicates a great deal of his energy to reconnecting alumni to the UST community, and creating networking venues for student and alumni. His background includes work in enrollment services at Capella University, specifically focused on supporting members of the armed services who were in pursuit of achieving collegiate degrees. Jeff has also spent a portion of his careering at companies that facilitated corporate and professional sporting events. His work at these various firms allowed him to travel nationally, and internationally, to support client needs. Jeff holds his BA in communications, and his MBA with a emphasis in marketing.

In his free time, Jeff can be found on the banks of various lakes in pursuit of that next big trophy fish. He also enjoys spending time supporting his in-laws farming operation, and chasing a few upland birds through the prairies of SW Minnesota. Jeff and his wife live in Waconia with their two children.
